According to the latest census there are over 3,800 people over the age of 65 living in North Platte.

That is why the North Platte city council has approved the proposed Linden Court nursing home expansion and renovations. The owner of the nursing facility, Vetter Senior Living, has plans to spend $7.5 million on the expansion.

Vetter’s investment into the home will increase the property’s size by 25,000 square feet.

Even though the construction will add only 12 more beds, chief development officer for Vetter, Mitch Elliott, said the changes will revolutionize the rehab facilities.

“We’re going to be able to dedicate and create households and neighborhoods inside of our existing facilities. That will be solely dedicated to short term rehab,” said Elliott.

The architect plan on having all of the blueprints done by May 2015 and hope to break ground by the summer.
