North Platte, Neb. KNOP-TV —

Construction at Linden Court is moving right along.

Officials say the project will help meet the demands in the health care community.

“We see a lot more knee replacements, hip replacements, even some ankle and shoulder surgeries that come to us after their surgery. But we are seeing more need for more space to serve this type of client,” said Linden Court Administrator Julie Skala.

The investors, Vetter Senior Living, will contribute $5.5 million for expansion of the nursing home.

Two million dollars will go towards renovations.

“Their needs are changing and we have more family involvement than we have had in the past. We see a need to do more activities with them,” Skala said.

Skala says the project will not only free up space for community and family gatherings, but it will also include 32 new rooms for in house rehab services.

“More people come to us who just need to be here for a short amount of time to gain strength so that they can go back home and live independently. It can be as short of a time as two weeks to maybe a couple of months. We will also have a larger therapy room close to those households for them to utilize with state-of-the-art equipment,” said Skala.

The project is expected to be complete by next summer.

Staff hope to move their patients in before that time.
